description abstractThis paper summarizes a new approach to the probabilistic modeling of fatigue crack growth. The material’s resistance to fatigue crack growth is modeled as a stochastic process, which varies randomly along the crack path. Model parameters are determined through time analysis of fatigue crack growth rate data. Predictions of the statistics of crack growth are excellent, especially for small cracks.
