description abstractMost of the earlier solutions for residual stresses were based on the assumption of elastic unloading and only a few considered reverse yielding. In this paper a new theoretical model for a high strength steel is proposed and a closed-form solution of residual stresses in autofrettaged tubes has been obtained. The new results indicate that the influence of the combined Bauschinger and hardening effect on the residual stress distribution is significant.
