description abstractA criterion for the prevention of core fracture during drawing of bimetal wire is proposed. In order to account for the contrary effect of friction between codrawing and coextrusion on the occurrence of core fracture, a model is considered which assumes a deformation geometry slightly different from that used in the development of the criterion for core fracture during coextrusion [1]. Comparison between the two criteria for codrawing and coextrusion is presented. The effects of independent process parameters on the incidence of core fracture are summarized and discussed.
