description abstractA quick-setting resin mortar has been developed to accomplish a new small diameter shield tunneling method. A nondestructive testing method employing ultrasonic pulses is used for estimating the strength of resin mortar. Young’s modulus, the density, the strength, and the ultrasonic velocity of resin mortar of varying contents are measured. The experimental and theoretical results show the possibility of nondestructive testing of resin mortar strength properties by using ultrasonic pulses.
