description abstractAxisymmetric solutions, in which both the radial and hoop stresses undergo a discontinuity, have been used for modeling the nominal stresses in the plastic cores of molded commutators. A model has also been developed for the reduction of nominal stresses by the use of high modulus, high strength, stiffening rings.
