description abstractA new cap-spinning design is described. A unique feature enables the cap to be operated at different speeds from the bobbin to increase or decrease yarn tension as needed. The new spinner will operate as a modification on a conventional ring spinning frame. However, it eliminates the need for rings and travelers. Due to the spinners independent tension control, it can be operated at extremely high speeds without increasing the ends down rate. Yarn grade and tension comparisons with a ring spinning are reported.
