Abstract: A new method is derived to calculate unbalance response of a complete turbomachine, including mount asymmetry, disk flexibility, and fluid-film bearing anisotropy by utilizing conventionally obtained stiffness coefficients for the rotor and stator. Formulation through the coordinates whirl and whip is in real variables with only eight equations per bearing. Whereas the stator is usually ignored, sample analysis illustrates possible strong influence of casing flexibility. Coordinate transformations to enhance visualization and verification of the solution are shown.
