    Abstract: A method is presented whereby known solutions to the torsion problem may be combined to form new solutions provided that the bar cross section can be broken down into sections for which the solution of the torsion problem is already known. It is shown that the correction function required is one which satisfies the Laplace equation for the combined cross section.
