description abstractThe behavior of multispan SS304 tubes intended for elevated temperature heat exchanger service is investigated. Particular attention was paid to the ASME Code Case 1592 criteria on buckling. It was found that for the loadings and geometric parameters examined, the behavior of the multispan tubes can be characterized as strain controlled. Code Case 1592 rules were found to be conservative for all the cases investigated. A suggestion to refine the Code Case rules is also given.
