    Abstract: In several wear and preference tests with T- and tennis shirts, low dpf 75/25 Dacron® /Orlon® blends were significantly preferred over 100% cotton under both cool/dry and hot/humid conditions. The two major factors which correlate with overall comfort preferences are (1) the soft tactility of Dacron® /Orlon® fabrics relative to the crisp tactility of cotton-containing fabrics and (2) the fact that Dacron® /Orlon® garments transport moisture through the respective fabric structures more effectively than cotton-containing garments and that Dacron® /Orlon® garments were perceived to cling less and dry faster when wet from perspiration. A discussion of Hollies’ wear test protocols is appended.
