Abstract: Calculated results based on a theoretical analysis of hydraulic transients in pipes taking into account the viscoelastic behavior of pipewall material are compared with experimental results. This comparison shows that the model accurately predicts pressure fluctuations in fluid and circumferential strain changes of the pipe during transients resulting from the rapid closure of a valve.
