Abstract: This Code Committee has been in existence since 1925, and has supplied written codes since 1935. The objectives of the code are identified in this paper, and the personnel, organization, liaison activities, and code sections are described. Two examples are included to demonstrate how B31 can go about broadening its scope of coverage of piping systems. Finally, the main challenges of the future are identified and the course of action is delineated.
