Abstract: Excessive stator end-wall and associated secondary flow losses were identified from test results of a small, low-aspect-ratio gas generator turbine. A research turbine was designed and tested for the same flow and work requirements to reduce the end-wall effects by varying radial work distribution. Loss predictions and mechanical design considerations for selecting a “parabolic” work distribution are discussed. Test results of this configuration are presented and compared with the baseline turbine and predicted stage performance.
