Publisher: American Society of Civil Engineers
Abstract: This technical note points out that caution must be exercised in conducting time-domain and random-vibration analyses of noncausal systems with frequency-dependent parameters and hysteretic damping. It warns against indiscriminate extensions of certain common engineering approaches that can lead to erroneous results.
