| description abstract | Two new methods of dynamic analysis of a coupled dam-reservoir system have been attempted in order to solve the problem of energy reflection at the upstream boundary of the reservoir. One is based on a viscous boundary condition, and the other is based on the principle of coordinate transformation. Comparison of these two methods with the traditional boundary condition shows that with the coordinate transformation method it is possible to get a good result with a short reservoir, and that use of the viscous boundary given in this paper usually results in a better solution than use of the traditional boundary condition. A recommendation regarding the application of these methods is given. | |
