Abstract: For a stiffened plate, modeled as an orthotropic body, a system of elasto‐plastic constitutive equations is formulated in terms of the plate stress resultants and the strains and curvatures of its middle plane. The yield condition in the form of 12 linear inequalities, in terms of the membrane forces and bending moments, is derived and analyzed. The theory includes an elastic law and the associated flow rule for the plastic strain and curvature rates.
