Abstract: Recent investigations have demonstrated the ability of semiactive devices to reduce the structural vibration. In this paper, a new device called the semiactive damper actuator (SADA) is introduced, which reduces the vibration response of structures during earthquakes. Numerical simulations are carried out to study the effects and advantages of SADA. Simulation results are presented and the responses of structures equipped with this device are compared with ones equipped with other similar devices. The results show SADA’s ability to reduce the seismic response of structures. SADA is a semiactive type and requires low energy to operate; therefore, it can be used widely to control the seismic response of structures.
