| description abstract | The additional environmental considerations that arise for contractors on design/build projects are discussed, with attention given to the perspectives of the owner and the contractor. The factors that made this particular project suitable for design/build are then described, as are the criteria used in the selection process. The steps taken by the Boh Bros./Sverdrup team to minimize the effect on the sensitive marine environment are recounted, and the way in which certain design elements aided in this effort is discussed. The importance of detailed consultations with all the parties affected by the project is stressed. | |
