Abstract: This paper summarizes proceedings of Construction Congress V, which was sponsored by the Construction Division of the American Society of Civil Engineers in Minneapolis, MN, October 5–7, 1997. The goal of Construction Congress V was to unite owners, designers, engineers, architects, lawyers, contractors, specialty contractors, and students in discussing issues facing the construction industry as it approaches the 21st century. Paper presentations and keynote speeches, each about managing engineered construction in expanding global markets, helped with the realization of that goal.
