description abstractThe U.S. Army Construction Engineering Research Laboratory, Champaign, Illinois, has developed several sets of calculation methods for determining life cycle costs of facilities. Two calculation methods have been implemented in a relational database language on a national computer system and on a basic DOS personal computer. Four calculation methods have been implemented in a DOS environment for an embellished personal computer. All calculation methods can be applied by any organization (cities, universities, corporations) for resource prediction. The calculation methods are currently being applied by selected installations in Germany and the United States. Benefits and operation of the system are described in this paper. The main features of the system are presented as applicable to all elements within the Army.
