Abstract: A high resolution light weight temperature sensor for use on the Jimsphere balloon is described. An error analysis of the temperature sensor is presented which shows the sensor to have an rms error of 0.44C at the surface (ground level) and that the rms error increases to 0.89C at 18 km. Three flight tests of the sensor are briefly discussed. The temperature data from these flight tests are compared with temperature data obtained from rawinsonde measurements made simultaneously with the Jimsphere temperature sensor tests.
