Abstract: Radiosonde ascents made within the circulation of hurricanes are combined to arrive at the mean temperature and pressure-height distribution about the storm. The results are compared with a thermodynamic model of the tropical storm, with the mean wind field, and with two individual case studies of intense tropical cyclones.
