    Abstract: All available rawin-reports taken within the circulation of tropical storms are combined to obtain a generalized pattern of the upper wind-circulation. The cyclonic circulation decreases rapidly with height, and by 45,000 ft the circulation is anticyclonic beyond 3 deg lat from the center. The relative vorticity in the upper troposphere is found to be negative and great enough in magnitude so that zero absolute vorticity is approached.
