Abstract: An instrument which measures the total water mixing ratio in cloud has been calibrated to an accuracy of ? ±0.1 g kg?1 in the presence of liquid water contents ranging up to 7 g kg?1. Evaporation occurs in a labyrinth of heated plates and the mixing ratio is measured psychrometrically. Close agreement with independent measurements of liquid and vapor content during flights through cloud is demonstrated.
