Abstract: The infrastructure problem receiving so much national attention requires research to solve important policy problems at all three levels of government. Research needs for infrastructure are presented for five problem‐solving objectives: to improve management processes, utilize new technologies and materials, reduce code and standard constraints, improve financial capacity, and adjust to future living patterns. The research statements are presented in an interdisciplinary format to link research with needed problem solutions. The principal disciplines included are: management science, engineering and physical science, and economics and finance. A bibliography of 77 references is included.
