Abstract: An analytical solution for dispersion of a unit load introduced instantaneously in a two-layer flow is developed. The problem is formulated in terms of the 1-D dispersion equations in each layer, coupled through an interfacial exchange term, and solved by means of the Laplace transform. Basic features of the resulting concentration distributions are indicated and some special cases are examined.
