Abstract: The interaction diagram approach for design of prestressed concrete members is extended for design of composite prestressed beams with one or more than one critical section. A systematic approach for the selection of prestressing force and eccentricity is presented and compared with the conventional approach which is one of trial and error. In addition, the use of the interaction diagram and the resulting valid domain provides a visual description concerning the safety of the cross section as well as clues for modifications in the design when it is found unsafe.
