Abstract: As part of a study program related to curved channel sediment excluders, an experimental and numerical investigation was carried out into flow in a curved converging channel. The finite difference computational model gave values that were in good agreement with experimental results. For the particular channel geometry, the calculated and observed values of mean longitudinal velocity approximated to a free vortex along the channel. The investigation demonstrated that for a curved converging channel it is possible to calculate the main parameters required for the design of a curved channel sediment excluder.
