A Geometric Study of In-Bin Blending

Abstract: A segregated flow model, taking account of residence-time distributions, has been developed to describe the process of blending material by recirculation. Variables having an effect on mixing have been investigated and the model was tested by comparison with the results from a laboratory hopper recirculation experiment. Suggestions are made for increasing the rapidity of mixing and for carrying out blending tests on the full scale. The effect of particle segregation was also examined.
