| description abstract | A recently invented land-locomotive device called the Vibra-Lo, which employs an oscillating driving force, is analyzed. It is shown that the ratio of the device static weight to the magnitude of the oscillating driving force is a basic design parameter which depends only on the value of the static friction coefficient. It is indicated that if it were possible to achieve bidirectional friction it might be advantageous in a practical device. | |
