Abstract: I feel both honored and challenged in assuming the responsibilities of this position. I am honored because my predecessor, Professor Ahmed Shabana of the University of Illinois at Chicago, together with the board of AEs and staff members, has done a tremendous job over the last 5 years in serving the journal and our community. As Editor of JCND, Professor Shabana has tirelessly promoted the journal and helped it become an established forum for the dissemination of new ideas and research findings related to computational dynamics, dynamics of multibody systems, and nonlinear dynamics. I am challenged, as we will need to take this important journal to a higher standard of excellence. Some initial thoughts to move JCND forward. I will seek input from the journal’s leading stakeholders for ways to further improve the quality and impact of JCND. I shall continue with the best practices introduced by my predecessors and also work on identifying and implementing new ones. With your help, I expect to identify and invite premier researchers in the field to submit articles in emerging areas and put those papers on a fast track for publication. In addition, I recognize that there is a critical need to reduce further the review time from submission to publication. In keeping with ASME’s international stature, I will work with you to attract papers from a broad geographical base.
