Progress in Lower Bound Direct Methods

Source: Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology:;2015:;volume( 137 ):;issue: 003::page 31005

    Weichert, D.
    ,
    Hachemi, A.

    Simon, J.

Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The paper reports on recent progress in numerical shakedown and limit analysis based on Melan's lower bound shakedown theorem. After explaining the theoretical foundations of their approach, the authors describe in detail the numerical scheme, in particular the underlying optimization via interior point methods. Numerous examples mostly related to pressure vessel technology are presented, illustrating the potential of the method.
