A Fluid Mechanics Approach to the Labyrinth Seal Leakage Problem

Source: Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power:;1961:;volume( 083 ):;issue: 002::page 161
    Author:
    Géza Vermes
    DOI: 10.1115/1.3673158
Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: The paper describes investigations of labyrinth seals carried out recently; derives new theoretical and semitheoretical formulas for computation of the leakage which agree within 5 per cent with the tests for three different types of seals; off-design performance of the seals is treated theoretically and experimentally.
