Abstract: Conventional design procedures require complete and accurate heat balances on each of a number of alternative regenerative cycles in order to determine the optimum cycle for a given set of conditions. This paper presents an analytical method, developed at the Edisonvolta, S.p.A., of Milan, Italy, by which the number of heat balances required to optimize the cycle is reduced a minimum.
