Abstract: An inactive gas piping system with minor leaks may require repressurizing if the system pressure cannot be allowed to fall to atmospheric pressure, for example, to maintain cleanliness. In this study, a simple hand calculation is developed to predict static (leakage only) pressure decay, and thus the repressurizing frequency, of such a gas piping system. This method can also be used to estimate the maximum leakage flowrate in the event that automatic repressurizing is required. This prediction method was tested and validated.
