Abstract: Following creep under combined tension and torsion for 2 hr, probes of 5-min duration were made with different sequences along (a) a Mises ellipse through the loading point, and (b) along a possible creep surface suggested by the normality concept as applied to previous experiments. The results indicate that the sequence of probing makes considerable difference and the shape of a creep surface estimated from normality is not necessarily consistent with a definition of the creep surface as a surface of constant creep rate.
