Abstract: This study reports on the microstructure and mechanical properties of titanium diboride (TiB2) that was rapidly consolidated via plasma pressure compaction (P2C®). Titanium diboride powder with 2.5 wt % of silicon nitride (Si3N4), as a sintering aid, was rapidly consolidated using P2C® to inhibit grain growth and ensure high strength and ductility of the consolidated material. The consolidated specimens were 93.5% of theoretical density. The microstructure of the consolidated material was characterized using optical microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and wavelength dispersive spectroscopy. Oxygen concentration in the consolidated sample was 13.55% less than in the as-received powders. The flexure strength, fracture toughness, Young’s modulus, and Vickers hardness of the consolidated specimens were measured at room temperature and were found to be equivalent if not superior to those reported in the literature.
