| description abstract | A two-level fractional factorial design of experiment is introduced to investigate the effects of several variables on four responses with 16 tests for punching operation. The analysis indicates that the taper on punch bottom is not only the most significant factor affecting punch force but also interacts with another factor, the radius on die mouth. The die radius was found to be the dominating factor affecting the other three responses, i.e., the burr height, the amount of dishing, and the fracture angle. The increase of die radius will reduce burr height but increase dishing and fracture angle. | |
