    Abstract: The kinetic energy correction factor for the flow at the vena contracta is calculated using experimental data and a modified Bernoulli equation. Based on an assumption of similarity of the profiles upstream and downstream of an orifice, two other nonuniformity factors, the momentum correction factor and the ratio of average velocity to center-line velocity, are also determined.
