Abstract: The first edition of Section XII, “Rules for Construction and Continued Service of Transport Tanks,” was issued with the 2004 edition of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. Transport tanks are pressure vessels used for the transportation of dangerous goods via highway, rail, air or water. This paper provides an overview of the requirements of section XII.
