| description abstract | An experimental and theoretical study is presented of the creep deformation of a thick-walled cylinder under internal pressure and supporting its own end load. In order to compare the experimental behavior with that predicted, care was taken to use an isotropic material and to supplement the pressure tests with adequate tensile data covering the stress range existing in the cylinders. The resulting correlations are discussed for a finite strain analysis neglecting elastic strains, a simple time-hardening extension of this, and for an incremental theory incorporating both elastic and creep strains. | |
