Abstract: This paper discusses the role of automation in not only achieving faster product development and deployment, but also forging better collaboration between the functions responsible for product development and support. It presents how information should be shared, managed, and communicated throughout the product development process. The role of product data management system as an information technology for integrated product development is discussed.
