| description abstract | A series of experiments were carried out in order to clarify the nonlinear sloshing phenomena in the reactor vessels of the pool-type LMFBRs, which may cause damages to the vessels or their inner structures. The test results for three types of models using a long-period large-amplitude shaking table provided us with the information on how the scales and the configurations of the models affect the sloshing wave crest impact pressures. Based on the test results and theoretical considerations, a formula was proposed to predict the impact pressures caused on the roofed liquid tanks due to sloshing. This formula is applicable to the same types of tanks, such as the oil storage tanks, as long as their sizes, liquid depths, and gaps between the roofs and the free surfaces are given. | |
