    Abstract: The thermodynamics and chemical kinetics of the combustion in air of methane when containing varying concentrations of the common diluents CO2 , N2 , and H2 O are considered over a wide range of composition, temperature and pressure. Some approaches are then suggested towards enhancing the combustion rate of such mixtures in air.
