Abstract: One method to synthesize plane mechanisms is by graphically constructing the circle point and center curves for a prescribed motion. This paper presents an analytic method for determining these curves in Cartesian coordinates for both plane and space mechanisms. The solutions to these curves are not transcendental and may be programmed on a computer.
