    Abstract: This paper presents a procedure for computing the axial stiffness of “formed head” type of expansion joints. The method given herein is an extension of the plate and shell theory adaptation of the “Kopp and Sayre method” first published by the authors in the text, Singh and Soler (1984). Arcturus Publishers. The approach suggested in this paper has been adopted by the Seventh Edition of the TEMA Standards.
