Abstract: An efficient, indirectly heated, steam-injected air turbine power or cogeneration plant, fired with coal in an atmospheric fluid bed, is described. The plant will meet all environmental standards and will generate about 35 MW. The plant offers a high power-to-steam ratio without requiring a condensing steam turbine and can operate efficiently without any export steam. Eliminating a condensing steam turbine, cooling tower, etc., reduces the capital cost and produces a low $ /kW installation. If necessary, most of the water injected into the air turbine can be recovered from the exhaust air and reused. All the equipment for the plant is commercially available.
