Fuel-Ash Corrosion and Its Effect on Boiler Design

Source: Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power:;1965:;volume( 087 ):;issue: 002::page 210

Publisher: The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME)
Abstract: Problems inherent in boiler design owing to the phenomenon of high-temperature oil and coal-ash corrosion are reviewed. Experience and research are discussed, together with the design philosophies and procedures used by the authors’ company in the design of boiler units to alleviate, or minimize, the possibility of high-temperature corrosion. Practical corrective measures to protect boiler units encountering corrosion are noted, and laboratory and field investigations now underway to learn more about the fundamental mechanism of corrosion are described briefly.
