Abstract: A new calculation procedure has been developed to evaluate the influence of parameter changes to the dynamic behavior of structures. By this sensitivity analysis the variations of natural frequencies and natural modes can be expressed, generated by specific parameter alterations. Combined with modal methods, for example the response spectrum modal analysis, the changed dynamic response (displacements, internal forces) can also be found. The algorithm is suitable in connection with standard finite element routines, to investigate the effect of parameter modifications in relation to the dynamic characteristics of an original system. For a large vessel piping system, the influence of a spring stiffness variation to the natural frequencies and internal forces is demonstrated.
