Abstract: Case histories are presented of gas-side corrosion that has occurred in the seven steam generating units with 1000 F or higher superheat and reheat temperatures erected by the authors’ company since 1953. In four of the units, corrosion has made expensive repairs necessary. Several methods of preventing or minimizing this tube wastage have been tried, but a completely satisfactory solution to the problem is yet to be found.
